Job Objective:
As part of the oneworld alliance’s Commercial team, the Manager, Business Development and Meetings will bring to life the oneworld customer proposition for corporations who have the largest travel needs in the world. Building on the strength of the combined network of all oneworld carriers, the Alliance delivers benefits beyond individual member offerings to make it the most seamless and rewarding experience for high value international business travelers.
This role supports the Commercial Team’s efforts to grow the revenue of these corporate customers with a focus on new business acquisition and product development, most notably the alliance’s MICE offering. Additionally, the position is accountable to manage and maintain the alliances customer-facing commercial fare products and their multi-channel deployment via oneworld.com and agency initiatives. This role interfaces directly with key internal and external stakeholders and provides visibility and exposure to our leadership team.
Key Accountabilities:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and ongoing delivery of a oneworld meetings and events (MICE) program, ensuring alignment with objectives of oneworld alliance, member airlines and corporate customers
- Where needed, establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors, venues and service providers
- Track and analyze the performance of the meetings program and be the main point of contact for customers
- Work in conjunction with Director of oneworld Global Corporate Sales and Events on coordination and logistics at oneworld events and expositions
- Attend trade shows and industry events to secure new oneworld corporate dealing prospects
- Be an ambassador of oneworld at industry events representing all member airlines and playing a key role in successful event execution
- Identify and pursue new corporate sales opportunities to meet or exceed targets
- Build and nurture relationships with prospective clients, demonstrating the value of oneworld’s offerings
- Coordinate with member airlines to assist in acquiring and contracting with new accounts
- Provide ongoing account and contract management to newly acquired business
- Represent oneworld member airlines and all oneworld products across all sales channels -- Commercial, Digital and Customer Experience -- to ensure oneworld customers can benefit from a multi-airline oneworld relationship
- Educate and promote oneworld’s key benefits and strengths globally to member airline Sales Teams and manage extensive data analytics to identify new business opportunities for member airlines, while delivering cost savings for corporate customers through robust tracking and management
- Provide weekly updates to Director Global Corporate Sales and Events and other periodic performance reports to alliance senior leadership and the oneworld Board
- Collaborate with oneworld member carriers to acquire high value accounts as per agreed targets using a data and insight driven approach
- Initiate and follow up on sales actions, obtain sales leads and dynamically seek new business
- Manage oneworld’s fare products (round-the-world) including distribution channels and performance reporting
- Employ a balanced portfolio management approach between relationship-based and insights-driven prospecting
- Serve as the primary point of contact for travel agency partners, and identify new opportunities for oneworld
- Implement strategies to enhance travel agency engagement and drive incremental sales through this channel
- Monitor agency performance and provide regular reporting to key stakeholders
- Regularly make sales visits to clients to conduct presentations, seminars, provide updates on products and services to enhance sales opportunities and facilitate sales
- Actively seek ways to improve the quality of the revenue generated by the portfolio
- Actively promote the use of new tools and technology to enhance communication, convenience, efficiency and service experience in support of corporate travel business
Skills, experience and qualifications:
- University degree required (BA, BS)
- Prior airline management experience required
- Strong analytic, data and reporting skills
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and focus on key issues
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of MICE and specialty agency segments (marine, energy resources and humanitarian) to assist in revenue generation and adoption within the portfolio
- Experience with Salesforce.com is preferred to manage new and existing customers and sales activities
- Experience with PRISM and Tableau is preferred to track the performance of the contracts
- Keen attention to detail with a focus on supporting member airlines on the administration of the contract and account management process
- Understanding of competition and legal issues specific to alliance sales efforts
- Highly effective communication skills – both written and oral
- Ethical and authentic and capable of building trust with customers and member airline commercial teams at all levels
- Proficient knowledge of travel agency distribution models and fare filing processes
- Experience in prospecting and onboarding new customers
- Experience in managing cross-culturally both externally and internally
- Travel, both domestic and international (could be up to 30% of the role)
