oneworld has the best apps, says business travel mag

21 de enero de 2011

oneworld® has the best airline alliance apps, a review by a leading independent travel magazine has concluded.

oneworld emerged as the clear favourite in a study of the e-timetable offerings of the three global alliances by Australian Business Traveller.

Not only does oneworld provide a wider choice of offerings - with an iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch app available from the Apple store,  a BlackBerry app too, a scaled down mobile version of its website, m.oneworld.com, along with downloadable versions for PCs - but they are also better than the equivalents available from its rival alliances, the magazine concluded.

Its verdict: "We think that oneworld's app is the best of the lot in functionality, feature set and - crucially for people who love their Apple devices - user experience.

"The oneworld iPad/iPhone hybrid app is the best of the airline alliance apps and mobile sites, mainly because it works at full size on the iPad's larger screen, meaning you can see more flights at a time.  Flight searches are straightforward and very easy to navigate around. The ‘frequent searches' option is particularly useful."

  • Serve almost 900 airports in nearly 150 countries, with some 9500 daily departures.
  • Offer more than 550 airport lounges for premium customers.
  • Carry 340 million passengers a year.

oneworld enables its members to offer their customers more services and benefits than any airline can provide on its own.  These include a broader route network, opportunities to earn and redeem frequent flyer miles and points across the combined oneworld network and more airport lounges.   oneworld also offers more alliance fares than any of its competitors.

oneworld is current holder of three of the four leading international awards for airline alliances - named the Best Airline Alliance by Global Traveler in its GT Tested Reader Survey 2010 Awards, World's Best Alliance in the 2010 World Airline Awards and the World's Leading Airline Alliance in the 2010 World Travel Awards, retaining that title for the eighth year running.
